Eligibility Criteria for Telangana Civil Judge Exam

​

Direct Recruitment
 

  1. Educational Qualification:

    • Must possess a Degree in Law from a recognized university.

    • Must be enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council.
       

  2. Experience:

    • Must have been practicing as an Advocate or Pleader for not less than 3 years.

    • Fresh law graduates with 60% marks (55% for reserved categories) in their law degree, obtained within three years prior to the notification, are also eligible.

    • Law graduates who are yet to practice as advocates can also apply.
       

  3. Age Limit:

    • Must be between 23 to 35 years (40 years for reserved categories).

    • Fresh law graduates must be between 23 to 26 years (31 years for reserved categories).
       

  4. Language Proficiency:

    • Must be able to read, speak, and write Telugu fluently and pass a prescribed test.
       

Recruitment by Transfer

  1. Educational Qualification: Must hold a Degree in Law recognized for enrollment as an Advocate.

  2. Age Limit: Must not have completed 48 years as of the notification date.

  3. Experience: Should be a confirmed member or approved probationer in specified categories of posts within the judicial and related services of Telangana.

  4. Language Proficiency: Must be able to read, speak, and write Telugu fluently and pass a prescribed test.
     

Important Notes

  • Good Character: Candidates must have good character and be free from any disability that renders them unfit for appointment.

  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of India.

  • Disqualifications: Candidates dismissed from service, convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude, or those who influence the recruitment authority directly or indirectly are not eligible.

Scheme of the Telangana Civil Judge Examination
 

1. Screening Test (Computer Based Test)

  • Format: 100 multiple-choice objective type questions.

  • Total Marks: 100 marks.

  • Duration: 2 hours.

  • Qualifying Marks: 40% at least

 

Note: Marks obtained in the screening test will not be counted for the final merit list.
 

2. Written Examination
 

Total Papers: Three papers.

  • Paper I: Civil Laws

  • Paper II: Criminal Laws

  • Paper III: English (Translation, Essay Writing, Grammar, and Vocabulary)
     

Each Paper:

  • Marks: 100 marks each.

  • Duration: 3 hours each.

  • Language: Answers to be written in English.


Note: English paper is divided into two parts:

  • Part I: Translation (English to Telugu and Telugu to English) – 30 marks.

  • Part II: Essay writing on legal subjects, Grammar, and Vocabulary – 70 marks.

  • Minimum qualifying marks in Paper III: 50% in each part.
     

3. Viva Voce

  • Total Marks: 30 marks.

  • Qualifying Marks:

    • For general candidates: Minimum 50% in viva voce.

    • For SC/ST and Differently Abled: Minimum 40% in viva voce.
